Conversion of Saul

1/19/2020

Today’s scripture is Acts chapter 9: 10-22.Today’s story is about Saul, who decided to convert his beliefs. God told Ananias, who was one of Christians in Damascus, to go to Saul and restore his sight. When I read this part, I questioned why Saul decided to convert his beliefs? How did he give his faith up so easily?
In fact, the mystical experience must have been changed Saul’s mindset. Even though he hated Christians, he became a Christian after the event. In Christianity, the personal experience of God is so very important. Saul’s mystical experience was so strong that he gave up everything he had.
The thing I realized and was surprised about is that after this event, Saul Proclaimed that Jesus is the Son of God because Saul had a lot of knowledge about the Old Testament. Ananias and the disciples would have answered his questions based on the Old Testament as Peter did. So, Saul must have understood who Jesus is and why Jesus is the son of God based on the Bible.
In short, Saul decided to convert his beliefs because emotionally, the mystical experience must have been changed his mindset and
intellectually, his extensive knowledge  of the Old Testament allowed him to understand the many prophecies about Jesus in the Bible. Through today’s sermon, I hope you have a personal experience of God and mature in your knowledge of Him to improve your faith.
